Nike KD 14
The Nike KD 14 provides great traction, great cushion, decent materials, solid fit and decent support. It’s a well-rounded, all-around performer. The fit is tricky so going up a half size or trying them on in store is recommended. If you get the fit right, your body will enjoy the cushioning combo of a full-length Zoom Air strobel and Cushlon midsole. It’s the perfect recipe for playing multiple hours without pain. Nike Air Zoom GT Cut
The Nike Air Zoom GT Cut is the first entry in Nike’s Greater Than series and is an impressive start. The GT Cut features a low profile, lightweight setup that compares favorably to the classic Nike Kobe 8. The React, full length Air Zoom Strobel, and heel Zoom unit work well together and provide solid cushioning despite how low this shoe sits to the ground. It’s a quick guard’s dream shoe but big guy’s may want to look elsewhere.
Nike Cosmic Unity
What happens when you blend together the best performance features of the KD 12 and Kyrie 7? The Nike Cosmic Unity. The Cosmic Unity offers the Zoom Air strobel cushioning we love with beefy stability. Traction is grippy herringbone while the fit is true to size. There really isn’t anything to complain about with this shoe. Is the sustainability aspect a marketing gimmick? Yes. But overall, the Cosmic Unity is a well-rounded, great shoe.
adidas DON Issue 2
The adidas DON Issue 2 is a surprise hit on court. While the outdoor traction isn’t great, they’re awesome on indoor courts. Fit is also very good. The cushion is good enough when you factor in the added mobility and range of motion received from the Feet You Wear system. At $100, the DON Issue 2 is a very good bang for your buck. You won’t break the bank and you won’t be sacrificing any performance attributes due to price.
Nike KD 13
The KD 13’s traction and cushion are standout features. The cushion’s Zoom Air strobel board provides comfort with every step. Forefoot containment and overall stability are lacking and as usual with KD’s shoes it’s a bit narrow. Not quite as good the 12, but close.
