Fortnite Season 8 is here, and that means it's time for the competition to make a move. Apex Legends is still in its preamble phase, having announced itself to the world in explosive form and now poised to begin its live service in earnest. So far all we know about the game's upcoming Season 1 battle pass is that it comes out in March and that Vince Zampella assures everyone that they are working very hard on it. A new report based on some leaks, however, suggests that the release date is nearly upon us.
Apex Legends has only been out for a month, but if you're already getting tired of playing as the same handful of heroes each game, you could be in for a treat. A new character is reporting coming to the game soon as part of the Battle Pass, and it looks like it's drawing some influence from the Borderlands series. According to Daily Esports, the first post-launch character for Apex Legends will be named Octane, and he will arrive around March 12 alongside the Battle Pass but he won't actually be included in it. The pass will reportedly only be purchasable using real cash as opposed to in-game coins, and it will be released as part of the game's first-year roadmap. This roadmap will also add additional weapons and loot to the game. The Havoc energy rifle was already added in a free update, packing a heavy punch at medium ranges.
With season one officially kicking off this month for Apex Legends, fans of the free-to-play battle royale game already know we have a few more Legends coming our way. One of which has already been leaked, but new evidence has surfaced that seems to confirm that Octane will be the first one revealed. Justin "Teenage" Phipps thought he was done with battle royales. Hours of grinding H1Z1, Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds had ultimately led nowhere. Even Overwatch, where he once reached Rank No. 1 as Widowmaker, failed to satisfy for long. Then, Teenage booted up Apex Legends.
Apex Legends topped 50 million unique players in its first month which is, frankly, insane. That being said, the game is a lot of fun to play, and some of us here are a little obsessed with hill slides, portal jumps, and zip lines, maybe more than we should be. The first Season Pass is said to be released sometime this month and, unfortunately, we know nothing about it at all. Respawn did, sort of, hide the game from the whole world though, so it stands to reason that they would be cagey about this, their first real expansion.
Initially, Octane was leaked on Reddit by a poster that supposedly snapped a picture of the character off of the screen of a person working on it. Since then the character has been the source of much debate on Reddit with Daily Esports claiming that a person close to the project has confirmed that the leak is in fact legitimate. Finally, to enjoy all the features in the game, players can Buy Apex Coins from Mmocs at a reasonable price.
