Mark Buehrle tries to win his fourth straight start to begin the season when the Toronto Blue Jays resume their three-game set in Cleveland this afternoon. Buehrle has given up just two earned runs this year, and one of those came Sunday at Baltimore when he limited the Orioles to five hits over seven innings. This strong beginning to the season by the veteran left-hander is his best since 2009 when he went 5-0 over his first six appearances before losing in Cleveland on May 13 that season. Buehrle is 15-17 with a 4.87 EA in 48 games (47 starts) against the Indians. The Blue Jays, who won 3-2 last night, are expected to get back infielder Jose Reyes today. Reyes suffered a strained hamstring during his first at-bat of the season on March 31 and hasnt played since. He was activated off the 15- day disabled list last night. The Blue Jays placed Adam Lind on the 15-day DL with a strained lower back and optioned shortstop Munenori Kawasaki to Triple-A Buffalo. The Blue Jays also selected the contract of Juan Francisco from the Bisons and transferred Maicer Izturis to the 60-day DL. Corey Kluber tries to help the Indians snap a two-game skid today when he takes the mound. The righty will be throwing on extended rest after throwing a season-best 7 1/3 innings against the White Sox last Sunday. He allowed eight hits and two runs in a no-decision. Thus far this season, Kluber has fanned 16 and walked only three batters. This will be his first career appearance against Toronto. Kluber is 6-0 over his last 11 starts at Progressive Field and hasnt lost at home since May 31, 2013 against Detroit. Melky Cabrera supplied four hits and a run for the Blue Jays in last nights win. Kawasaki, Edwin Encarnacion, and Brett Lawrie each drove in a run for the Blue Jays, who snapped a two-game skid. Starting pitcher Drew Hutchison gave up two runs on eight hits with nine strikeouts across 5 1/3 innings. Steve Delabar (1-0) retired the final two batters in the sixth after having men on first and third to earn the win. Sergio Santos picked up his fifth save of the season after issuing two walks and striking out two batters in a scoreless ninth. "It got a little hairy there, but the bottom line is he got it done," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said of Santos. Carlos Santana stroked a two-run homer and Jason Kipnis had two hits for the Indians, who have dropped three of their last four. Justin Masterson allowed two runs on six hits with nine strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings, but Marc Rzepczynski (0-1) was tagged with the loss after giving up a run on two hits in the seventh. "Were just working out the kinks, having some fun. A lot of close games. I think youll find as we continue to go, theres going to be a lot of great things coming," Masterson said. Cleveland won four of the six meetings last season. Obasi chested the ball past one defender, prodded it past another and then rounded the keeper before scoring from a tight angle in the 16th minute. Seconds after the restart, Obasi set up Klaas Jan Huntelaar for the Dutchmans 11th goal from 13 games this season. The flanker began his comeback from a right shoulder injury by coming off the bench on Saturday when Wales opened with a victory over Italy. Warburton replaces Justin Tipuric, one of three changes announced on Tuesday by coach Warren Gatland.Texas Rangers left-hander Derek Holland will miss the start of the season after having arthroscopic surgery Friday on his left knee. Holland injured his knee in a fall on stairs in his home on Tuesday. "I am devastated by this injury. It was a freak accident at home that resulted in a hard fall on my knee," Holland said in a statement released by the team. "As upsetting as this is, my goal is to begin rehab and get back on the mound as quickly as possible." General manager Jon Daniels said team physician Dr. Keith Meister repaired cartilage behind Hollands kneecap during the surgery. Daniels said no ligaments needed to be repaired. Daniels said it was too early to have an exact timetable for Hollands return, but is that the 27-year-old lefty is "expected to miss some time into the year." Daniels said for planning purposes, the Rangers are looking at a midseason return, but are hopeful that it can be earlier than that. The Rangers said Holland will have only limited activity over the next six weeks. Holland was 10-9 with a 3.42 ERA in a team-high 33 starts last season. He pitched a career-high 213 innings. In five major league seasons with the Rangers, Holland is 49-38 in 141 games (123 starts). He is under contract through 2016, with club options for two more years after that. WWithout Holland, the Rangers still appear to have Yu Darvish, Matt Harrison, Martin Perez and Alexi Ogando set for the rotation to start the season. Cam Talbot Oilers Jersey. Asked about filling Hollands spot, Daniels said he expected to add some pitching depth, but clarified that would be "more in the depth category than really replacing somebody at the front-end of our rotation." Daniels never specifically mentioned Masahiro Tanaka, the Japanese free agent who was 24-0 with a 1.27 ERA in 27 starts last season. But the GM said it didnt seem realistic that a "big-ticket item" would be the answer. "This is an opportunity for a number of our guys," Daniels said. "Were going to go out and hopefully fortify that group and give ourselves some additional options and expect Derek will be back midyear." Daniels, though, has said previously when asked about Tanaka that the team would do its due diligence with any free agent. After the Rangers signed outfielder Shin-Soo Choo to a $130 million, seven-year contract last month, team co-owner Bob Simpson said adding Tanaka "would be a tough thing." The Rangers payroll is expected to be over $130 million this season, more than double what it was when the ownership group took over nearly 3 1/2 years ago.
